echo on IP phones

Hello all,

i have a G3siV12 system and on the IP phones (4602SW and 4610SW) i hear echo while on the phone. I administer echo cancellation on the DS1, I download the 46xxx111004.exe file but still the same. Any suggestions?

Re: echo on IP phones

well you are on track. The far end is ANALOG LINE when I hear the echo. Whenever the far end is ISDN lines or Cellurar phones, no echo appears.
Also I note that when I use CO lines to dial out to PTT I hear no echo even if I call to PSDN lines. The problem occurs ONLY when I use ISDN PRI trunk to dial out to PSDN lines.

Does this say anything to you?

Re: echo on IP phones

:tdn:

Hello All. I found the solution and I would like to share it with you.
1. Only TN2464BP boards support echo cancellation
2. Echo Cancellation is administered both in the TRunk group & the DS1 board
3. In the DS1 administration, EC Direction set to inward (only the users in the system were hearing the echo)
4. In the DS1 administration, EC Configuration set to 1 (for faster absorpion of the echo)

Re: echo on IP phones

I would check the network provider of the ISDN-PRI to see if they have echo cancellors (they call them echo cans) deployed on the circuit. We had a new PAETEC circuit on an IP Office that had severe echo, only on LD calls. Once PAETEC installed the echo cancellors on the circuit, the problem went away.

It is worth a service call to find this out

Re: echo on IP phones

What about the MedPro what is the firmware install on it? You should have f95 if hw is more than 11 and 92 if not.

Re: echo on IP phones

Man I am working on almost an identical problem. I guess it's echo but let me elaborate. Sound is static like overdrive heard on the Analog PSTN endpoint. It is not consistent and is not noticed by the IP endpoint.

Only happens on call incoming from analog PSTN endpoints to VoIP phones or at least I have not been able to reproduce the issue on my Cellphone. Currently the incoming trunk is ISDN-PRI on a TN464F v20, where unfortunately I do not see any echo cancellation options. My MedPro is HW20 FW102, I will upgrade this to the current version 111 today.
I plan on calling my provider next and inquiring about echo cancellors.

I'll post my progress when I make some.

Re: echo on IP phones

Have you tried changing the loss plan between the ip station and the trunk group? I've been able to get rid of echo by inserting a couple of db of loss, especially with analog trunks.
