Phone Trouble Shooting.

We have 6416D+ phones and one user is having problem where the phone basically goes dead. The lights turn off and the display goes blank for a brief time and then goes back on. This has also happend when the person was on the phone and the call got disconnected.

I have changed phones and the phone line from the jack to the phone. I was curious what you all would do next? Could it be the port on the network switch that it is plugged through, the phone port that is on the switch?

Any troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

Re: Phone Trouble Shooting.

Your next step is to check the jack itself and the cabling from the punchblock to the jack. You could plug the phone directly into the port of the KSU and use it there for awhile. If you do not recreate the problem at the port, then the trouble is pointing to the cabling or jack.

The wierd thing is that this is now no longer happening! It happened after I changed the phone and the line from the jack to the phone, but for some reason it "healed" itself. Has anyone ever had this occur or any idea why this happend and why it isn't happening again?

Re: Phone Trouble Shooting.

From time to time when I add a new 6408, 6416 or what ever, shortly after it's pluged in it "drops out" then come back online and works normal. This has only happened to me within the first few minutes of pluging in the new phone. I don't know if your talking about the same thing, but if you are, it has done it to me on every sysem 75 or G3i Switch I have worked on.
