Upgrade from R6 to CM2

Hello All. I am doing a routine procedure upgrading an R6 to CM2 and something is missing and the upgrade cannot be completed. Can you help? This is what I am doing:
1. I power on the system with the new processor and the old flach card
2. I download the new licence file via LIT
3. I replace the old flash card with the new one
4. I try to save translations onto the new flash card.

I get CARD_MEM major alarm and the upgrade cannot be completed. ALso I cannot do much in the administration. What am I missing?????

I belong to the Avaya ProVision discussion group and much discussion regarding this very problem occured in November of last year. The bottom line is that you cannot go from R6 directly to CM2+. Several solutions were offered, but the ones repeated over and over again were:

1) Use a spare processor and upgrade to R8, R9, R10 or R11 first and then proceed with the upgrade to CM2. With R10 and R11 you will get license alarms ... ignore and procede. If you load the CM2 license file wou'll really hose things up.

2) Use two Orange Cards (a 1.3 and a CM2+), upgrade (downgrade) the new processor to an 11.3 and load the R6 translations. The switch will come up with a license alarm (but DO NOT load the license file). Save the translations to the new 16Mb flash card. Then, upgrade the 11.3 to CM2+ with the second flash card.

regs,
