abrievated dialing system

I just inhereted the job of administrator of the pbx from someone who has left my company. I will not even pretend to understand what is going on with it, so for the most part i just add and remove stations. Today one of our users tried dialing to an outside number in arizona or somthing like that where the fist 2 numbers of the area code are used in our abrivated dialing system. 623x even though we do not use any 623x numbers (62 is our start of abreviated sequence). The call repeatedely fails because it will not let us put in the whole number. Is there a way in the settings to say that if the 9-1 combination (9 for the outside line, 1 for new area code) will always dial an outside number and not be picked up by the abreaviated dialing system or even a way for this one user to disable it?

I was given no training or documentation, so ANY help is apreciated.

Re: abrievated dialing system

you need to figure out what is this code exactly programmed in your system. For that please give a command " display feature-access-codes ".

Paste the full out put here and will help you further.
Its easy to by pass the abbrivated dialing list if you have ARS code setup. Then by using the ARS from that particular phone you can dial what ever you want to.
