Noise issue with 9040 using DRM-D
Just installed a DRM-D with two 9040 transtalk phones.
I am having problems with popping noise on the phones. The DRM-D was first installed in the ceiling and I could go about 20' before the popping occured. Even when I was in the ceiling testing still had same problem. I move the base unit down into the office and had same problem. Move base to other side of building and within 10' worked fine or when return to user's office works fine. I did preform wireless test and the lowest (even with popping occuring) was a Signal H: 6 B:6 Voice H:10 B:9 Power H:8 B:6 The customer turned off their wireless hubs which did seem to help a bit. Does anyone know if the bluetooth wireless products would cause this type of problem or has anyone else had had this issue? Jim Saucier |

Re: Noise issue with 9040 using DRM-D
I have a customer with an IP Office and one 9040 and they receive intermittant popping when on a call. We have replaced both the DRM and the handset and the popping continues. We have also tried relocating the DRM, and the popping continues. The bottom line in my experience is that Transtalks are for the most part, junk. I had high hopes for the 9040 to improve upon the performance of the 9031, and it just hasn't been the case. The real solution is to dump the TT's and put in Spectralink. :)

Re: Noise issue with 9040 using DRM-D
I have found that the 9040 solution is hit or miss. I woks well in some locations and poorly in others. I would play around with the location of the DRM-D as I took me several days of moving and testing to find a suitable location.
The spectralink is a nice product, but it may not be cost efective if you only need a few wireless phones. |

Re: Noise issue with 9040 using DRM-D
Well I figured out the problem.
The Sales staff is using Bluetooth headsets which is in the same freq range as the 9040s. I really thougth that the 9040s would be better than the 9031s. They seemed to have gone backwards with technology. The Customer went with these new Motorola business cordless phones. They are really nice. The only downfall is they are analog. Built in speaker phone, phone to phone walkie talkie (like nextel), great range and in the 2.4 ghz range. Jim |
