List stations

Hello Everybody !

My Definity does something ( definitely :) ) stupid; she refuses to list all stations but only five of them.
Does anybody know how to solve this ?

Many thanks,
Vane

Re: List stations

Have you tried to type in "list station xxxx to xxxx" where "xxxx" is a specific number range you know exists?

If so what was the result?

Re: List stations

Good one mke, that would look as if there were only 1 page of stations.

vane - if this is the case using Gedi to list stations etc give you a clearer view.

Re: List stations

Thank you guys !

I used GEDI, Terminal emulator, Term Pro, telnet, Hyper Terminal.
There is a corruption in software or smth. List VDN is not working as well, and God knows what else !
I disp/cha, manually, 87 stations and 8 VDNs; the list command only shows 5 st and 0 VDN.
I am curious if somebody met this trouble, too.
BTW: I used to operate a Definity 4 years then I moved to Ericsson, Nortel ... now I just come back to Avaya ( I changed the job and the company, again :) ). This switch was managed by another engineer who left the company before I came.

BR,
Vane

Re: List stations

Do you have a maint contract ? If so have Avaya check it out. I was an Avaya tech for 35 years and still work on the Definity every day and I've never seen the problem your having. Did you just do an upgrade or swap out a processor ? It could be so many things but I would bet on some sort of corruption.

You could try a reset system 1

Re: List stations

You know the chain ! I announced the distributor, this one escalated to Avaya and now I'm waiting :)
The system was powered out the day before yesterday (due to building power cabling extension) and I hoped this error will dissapear but didn't ...

Re: List stations

If you have a maint contract you can call Avaya directly. The INADS group will dial in, if they can't fix it remotely they will dispatch a tech. If it's a corruption problem you may have to mail a copy of your translations to Denver

Re: List stations

I have run into that problem before. The only way we got past it was to "flush and fill"
(1) Use ASA or printouts to "save" as much translation as you can or want to, such as stations, cor, trunks, routes, ars, FAC, VDNs, vectors, ...
(2) Have Avaya dial in and record what customer-options you have turned on.
(3) Reboot without a card in there
(4) Have Avaya re-install license file with correct customer options
(5) Re-enter translations.

This happened on a G3si that I was deploying to a new site, so I didn't care if the slate was blank afterwards. If I did (like you will) I would contact a VAR and have them use Provision to pull stuff off so it will be easier to put back on.

Since Avaya/ VAR will charge you to do this, I'd try to push through a version upgrade at the same time if you were planning to do that too, since they'll probably wave the flush-and-fill charge. It is basically the same process to upgrade -- you would just tell them you didn't want to carry over your translations other than customer-options.

BTW I suspected that the corruption we had was caused by TTI. I haven't turned it on (any switch) since.

Re: List stations

I've never heard of TTI causing corruption and every switch I've ever seen has it enabled.

As far as the corruption goes Avaya has ways of getting the corruption out without reloading all the translations. For a small switch that may be OK but a large customer would never be able to do that without alot of down time.

If you have Maint, call Avaya . Chances are they get you into the corruption split and they work it out for you.
