Two B-Channel Transfer (TBCT)

Can a Definity G3si V6 (or later) be configured with an ISDN PRI (i.e. TN464F) trunk to support Two B-Channel Transfer (TBCT)?

TBCT enables a user to request the switch to connect together two independent calls on the user's interface. The user who made the request is released from the calls and the other two users are directly connected. This feature is supported for 5ESS, 4ESS, and National ISDN-2 (NI2) protocols.

It sounds an awful lot like conferencing. Conferencing is available on AVAYA Definity & AVAYA Communication Manager Systems. If you've conferenced two parties in and drop the call - the other two parties will remain in conference.

It sounds like you are trying to do a trunk to trunk transfer. Do a 'cha cos' under the users cos, change trk-to trk transfer override to yes. I usually set all of these to no becuase this it is a common place for toll fraud. This feature allows a user to transfer a external call to another external number and then drop off the line. The call they transfered will still be connected.

Re: Two B-Channel Transfer (TBCT)

Thanks for the replies!

Actually, what I am trying to do is determine what protocols on a Definity G3si V6 (or later) support blind transfers. Essentially, I have an IVR connected to the PBX. The IVR uses a Intel Dialogic DM/V480A-2T1 card and the PBX uses a TN464F circuit pack. I would like to verify that blind transfers work if I configure the T1 connection to be either:

1. T1 CAS (robbed-bit)
2. ISDN PRI

Ideally, I would prefer option (2) since DNIS/ANI can be used too. Can this be done ... or do I need TBCT? If I need TBCT, can this be configured on the G3si ... or does the carrier have to provide this functionality?

Alternatively, we are currently trying to use option (1). However, in our IVR application, when we do a flash hook, the PBX doesn't 'see' it. The T1 for option (1) has been configured as:

- DS1 (robbed-bit, b8zs, d4)
- Tie trunk group (wink/immed) with 24 members
- Using Uniform Dialing Plan (UDP)

Would this type of setup be called a 'trunk-side' (vs. line-side)? I've seen other information that say the T1 needs to be configured as a 'line-side' T1 in order to accomplish what I need. In Avaya terminology, does that mean instead of using UDP and a tie trunk group with 24 members, I should be using DS1FD(s) instead?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you thought about setting the IVR ports up as line-side extensions (DS1FD, DS1FA, or OPS) and placing them into a hunt group? In document 555-233-503 (DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server Release 9.5 Guide to ACD Call Centers) has an appendix that speaks to this very issue. Also, you can use the "converse" vector step to pass DNIS and/or ANI to the stations. Finally, you can use "flash hook" to facilitate the blind transfer that you wish to acomplish.
