DCS+, IDS+ & BSR Features over Cisco Gateway
Anyone have any experience with using DCS+, IDS+ & BSR features via a Cisco Gateway (w/ Transparent Common Channel Signaling) instead of using voice Point to Points?
I had attempted a few years back to DCS+ two ProLogixs together via IP network & a Cisco gateway, but the data folks could never get it work. Anyone heard or have any experience if this will work, or know of any bugs? Regards, Chris |

They're queuing calls in the US and then using LAI to answer the calls in India. That way they don't have MOH riding the compressed pipes, only voice. What specific queries did you have? I can probably get info from their data guys if you need it. .al.

Re: DCS+, IDS+ & BSR Features over Cisco Gateway
We have a number of PtP T-1s connecting being used for DCS+, Voice Mail Services, BSR features & IDS+ our data group wants to see if we can consolidate those services over our PIP to reduce our monthly recurring. An AVAYA BP that I respect suggested strongly waiting until we upgrade our processors to S8700 and update our software releases (we're at v10). We're not trying to VoIP per say (thus no MedPros), just trying to convert/consolidate the long haul transport & features.
Crudely: TN464 DS1 --> Cisco Transparent Gateway w/ TCCS --> PIP --> Cisco Transparent Gateway w/ TCCS --> TN464DS1 According to Cisco, DCS+ features, BSR & IDS+ features should pass without any issue. I have had experience that points to the counter and the IPT convergence expert highly suggested waiting until we migrate to QSIQ. No QSIQ features are enabled at the moment, but again, according to Cisco that won't be an issue. I'm also concerned about our CTI UUI information along with IDS+... A classic: "Cisco said, AVAYA said" scenario... I'm just looking for anyone that might have deployed something similiar. -Chris |

Re: DCS+, IDS+ & BSR Features over Cisco Gateway
Just trying to catch up with you here, Bear.. Your endpt PBX's shouldn't care about the carrier inbetween, seems like you will continue to configure DS1's via the 464's and a DCS trunk group around that? As long as the bearer (pt-2-pt, ATM, whatever) provides T1 interface, why would the PBX care?

Re: DCS+, IDS+ & BSR Features over Cisco Gateway
I got an official word from AVAYA. They do not recommend doing this scenario on our current processors & software release (R / v10), it's proven to be unreliable. But I can't find an official technical why.
