Need Ideas
We have just received a request to provide data and voice to an off-site location (a couple blocks from campus) and have no physical cabling to the building. There will be three to six offices, each needing an extension as well as data connection to our LAN. They would prefer extensions and voice mail from our systems [Avaya G3R v11 and Intuity v5.1] as opposed to those from our local telephone company. At least one of the extensions will be for a fax machine.
I'd like to hear some ideas on how I might provide this without the costs getting out of hand. Not sure how long this off-site location is leased for. |

Re: Need Ideas
Has anyone got experence with Tsunami QuickBridge 20 Link, Tsunami QuickBridge 20 + T1 Link, or other possible Microwave types of solutions for data or data and voice combined?
If I use IP phones at the remote end, what about the fax line? Will it have to be an IP-enabled fax machine or is there some work around? |

Re: Need Ideas
The faxes will need to get dialtone from something. You can order POTS lines from the telco and call forward off-net or coverage path remote to get the faxes from the pbx to those lines. If there is only going to be one fax machine, you can use the dry copper pair to provide tone to the fax from your pbx. You should be able to run both DSL and one analog line over the copper pair.
Another alternative for multiple faxes would be to set up network faxing (RightFax, or the built-in faxing of the Intuity), then print out the faxes to a network printer over there. RightFax (et al) will also take care of outbound faxing for you. |
