Defiinity Site Administration

I am trying to install DSA and am having problems accessing our switch. Is there any kind of user manual available so I can make sure I am doing everything right?

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

Are you trying to access your switch via modem? Or data module? IP?

Talking Re: Defiinity Site Administration

try using 9 to 25 pin connector. Connect the 9 pin connector to com1 of the computer and 25 pin connector to the pabx port.

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

I am attempting to access my switch via DSA going through a 8400B Plus Data Module. I have the module connected correctly and have loaded the software. That is where I am hitting a roadblock and was curious on obtaining a users guide. I was going to try and keep all of this brief, but I don't think that that is best now (so brace yourselves):

Do I need any special circut packs to connect to the switch?

I have modified my extension to to indicate that I have a data module and created a soft ext on page 6. For the field on the DSA wizard which asks for the phone number, do I enter the ext of the INADS line? I see on the switch that there is an ext to a DSA hunt group, which ties into some netcon extensions. Do I use that number of the hunt group extension? I try to call the extension and just get the tone like it isn't a valid extension.

There is also a data module on the switch, but how do I hook into this?

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

I'm not sure what you mean by the "term" port.

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

Should I be able to get some sort of tone when accessing one of the netcon data modules?

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

Why dont you just use the TERMINAL port on the back of the switch or on the octopus cable depending on the type of swith you have. There is also another way you can do this if your trying to set up DSA off site or very far away. If you have a CLan board you can connect vie Ethernet over your corperate LAN. You just have to do some minor configurations on the clan board and under "Change Comm interface-processor chanels" This is the best way and the only way i set up DSA on older systems.

Re: Defiinity Site Administration

there is a port on the back of the Switch it says terminal, or if the switch is a wall mount you have an octopus cable on it that says TERM or TERMINAL its shaped like an RS232. so all you need is a db9(Serial) to rs232 cable to connect from your PC's serial port to your Switch's terminal port. in dsa set up a new switch for direct serial port connection. if you can i would go with the CLAN connect it the best.
