Converting network from AT&T to SPRINT

Our company is converting our 4 digit DCS/LD network from AT&T SDN to the Sprint network. we have 19 locations on our DCS network nation wide. I need some assistance from someone who has gone through this experience. Specifically: What were some of the gotcha's that I might be able to avoid from your experience. :(

Re: Converting network from AT&T to SPRINT

I suppose I shall answer my own question.

If you use the DCS feature, SPRINT does not support(NCATSC)
From their engineer:
After doing additional research on the Non Call Associated Temporary Signaling Connection (NCATSC) I found out that this is a feature of the National ISDN version 2 (NI2), which AT&T supports but Sprint does not. Sprint supports National ISDN version 1 (NI1), thus the reason we do not support NCATSC. To supplement this Sprint supports Message Associated UUI. However, it appears that Avaya does not support this. I’m still double-checking this with a contact at Avaya. In the mean time, could you get a list of all of the features available through NI2 across AT&T that VHA has to have for this migration. I will take that list and work with the lab to ensure that we support them.

Only MCI N-Quest and AT&T SDN support the feature on a nationwide basis, per AVAYA Labs.

Basically a number 4 or 5 ESS will support the feature, DMS switches do not. However SPRINT is continuing to work with AVAYA for a solution.

Hope this helps others as they might be migrating to other vendors.

Re: Converting network from AT&T to SPRINT

I received an email and was asked to define NCATSC.
Noncall Associated Temporary Signaling Connection.
The feature primarily allows features to work over the DCS network with out establishing a B channel for connection. A message is sent over the D channel to light Message waiting lamps and activate and deactivate other network features. Our primary use is for centralized voicemail and lighting the lamps at the remote PBX's, and for Auto call back.

I have found the DMS 250 does support the feature, but SPRINT has chosen not to activate it. Kind of screws up the national agreement we have with SPRINT.
