VAL Manager on S8300
I recently installed a S8300 in one of our offices. The system has a built-in announcement board, which is enabled (and works fine). I want to use the VAL manager software to connect to this board/system and remotely change announcements.
I imagine I will need to set up the port for this in ip-services, but I don't get a clear-cut choice that would do this. The service type options are: CDR1, CDR2 (obviously not these two), DAPI, DLG, PMS, PMS_JOURNAL, PMS_LOG, SAT, SYS_PRNT (obviously not these two). Has anybody accomplished this? Re: VAL Manager on S8300
I managed to work my way through and set this up on an S8700.
Are you connecting on your LAN? Make sure you have a entry for the VAL board in the IP-Node-Names list (IP address of VAL Board). In IP services you need to ensure that there is a entry for a C-LAN and a port number that you will connect VAL manager to. Also ensure you have an entry for the VAL board in the IP Interface list specifying the board details (slot,Name, Subnet Mask, Gateway address, Region, VLAN etc). Then in VAL MGR set the IP address and port to the C-LAN in the IP serivices field and either create a new login (mine is called VAL) or use your login and password that you use to connect to ASA. Hopefully this should work - it did for me. |

Re: VAL Manager on S8300
No, it's different with the S8300... the announcement card (which isn't really a VAL board per se) is integrated into the media gateway and doesn't have its' own IP address.
I connected to the same IP address and port I would use in ASA. This gives me the list on announcements, but I can't connect to the FTP portion of it to add/change sound files. It gives a "Failed to create FTP connection. The IP address for 001V9 is incorrect." The IP address it gives is the g700 IP address. I don't know if it is supposed to be going to the g700 address, or whether it should go to the management (ASA) IP address. Furthermore, I can't ping the g700 address anywhere except for within the "go shell" command when logged using ASA. (I realize this might be a network problem, but it's hard for me to tell without some assistance from you guys). Has anyone with an S8300 got VAL manager to work? Re: VAL Manager on S8300
This is working now, BTW. The problem was that the G700 did not have a route defined for the rest of the network through the proper gateway, so it couldn't respond to traffic. VAL manager works fine now with the S8300
