Routing call through another switch
I have three switches. Two of those are connected via a point-to-point T1. The third one is on its own. How do I make call from switch #1 go over switch # 2 when destined for switch # 3.
Any information will be appreciated. Thank you! |

Re: Routing call through another switch
Yes, the T1 is voice T1.
Here is an example of what I am trying to do: Calls from switch 1 and switch 2 to switch 3 go over the public network. However, we get a discount on the calls made from switch 2 to switch 3. Since there is a private line between switch 1 and 2, I thought I can route calls from switch 1 to switch 3 through switch 2. I hope this makes sense. Thank you. |

Re: Routing call through another switch
Yes you can do that, it will be a little touchy though. Basically you need to identify the numbers (area codes, local prefixes, etc) that you want to do this with and make specific entries in ARS in switch 1 for them. You would make a route pattern that points to your T1 to switch 2 and insert a 9 on the route pattern as well.
Next, you basically do the same thing on switch 2, make the same specific entries to match the number coming from switch 1 in switch 2's ARS tables and again, point them towards a new route pattern directed at switch 3 and again insert a 9 on it. That is the short of it, you will definitely have to "tweak" it a little and play around to make it work, I reccomend trying one number specifically to test until you get the hang of it to confuse matters a little less. You may run into various COR and Trunk to Trunk issues alng the way but those are bridges you really need to deal with as you cross them.

Re: Routing call through another switch
I did this exact thing several months ago. I have 4 buildings connected via point to point circuits as well as public circuits out to "the real world". We had one public circuit in particular that kept going down. I routed the calls over the point to point T1 and out another switch. Works great.
Now I have all 4 locations set to rollover outbound calls over the point to point if the main building PRi is down. Regards Joe |

Re: Routing call through another switch
If it were me i would in the main PBX make a route to send for example 801555 calls to a route pattern that goes to the remote PBX. then have that remote PBX take those number and make another ARS entry to point to PBX #3. Then PBX #3 will route by default out the local trunk.
