Running MCC EPN's w/o batteries?

Slowly one by one our older EPN's are generating Power related alarms. As this has happened I have diligently been replacing batteries and charger units (397c's) as necessary. One of the other techs questioned whether we need the Battery backups and chargers, since each EPN location is outfitted with a backup power source(ups).
Does anyone run their EPN's w/o the batteries or chargers installed? Or do you know if it is possible?

We use UPS, but good though.

I have come across this same issue and was wondering if you ever got a response. We have some very old MCC cabinets that are now IP connected and we are constantly replacing the batteries and changers.

I have heard that on the older rectifiers there are some pins that you can jump on the battery charger connector that will make it think there is a battery charger and batteries connected even though you have removed them.

If the switch was ordered with a UPS, it should not have come with the 397 and batteries because they are redundant. I have never tried to remove them so not sure if unplugging the connectors from the cabinet rectifier will take them out of service or generate an alarm.

It is an older cabinet that has been in service since 1990, it was not installed with a UPS. If the battery and 397 are removed then you are stuck with a minor power alarm.

I have found that Lucent/Avaya used to have a connector to eliminate the alarm on these older cabinets. The part number is H600-354. I have had no luck in finding this connector.

Those cabinets are long discontinued. Your only possible source will be companies that deal with old Lucent/Avaya equipment. That part is the one that would have come with the cabinet if it were bought with a UPS.
