Accidental 911 call prevention

Does anyone have a solutions besides using route partitions to prevent accidental 911 calls.

Some of our users for some reason when they call international or national longdistance, dial 9 to get to the ars tables then either dial 11 and omit the 0 for international calls or hit and extra 1. The problems is since we set up the phones to dial 911 and convert to call emergency services the PD and FD show up in full force.

This is only happening on fax machines which are in a Different COR.

Since it is only happening to those faxes in a different COR you could deny their ability to dial 911 and force them to dial 9, then 911. Just a thought.

That was what I was trying to figure out how to do. I went ahead and got rid of digit conversion and made a Ars entry for 11 to add a 9 in front of it. Then I placed that cor in its own partition group and they can call 9 911 but not 911

I'd leave the "11" digit conversion in place. There's for a very logical reason for it's existence. Here's another alternative: Eliminate the need to dial "9" on your fax machines altogether. Here's how: Eliminate "Dial 9" on Fax and Modem

Re: Accidental 911 call prevention

The 11 digit conversion was placed so when they dial 911 it replaced 11 with 911. I accomplished this by making an ars entry for 11. Now when they dial 911 the route inserts the 9 to make it a 911 call. But on the fax machine I made it if they call just 911 it hits the ars tables, for the fax cor it will dial the security guards and not the emergency services, but if the dial 9 911 it does allow emergency services to be dialed.
