Dial-UP for Definity

we're having a problem concerning the dial-up connection for our PABX which is a G3si, the modem is not answering to be use for remote maintenance. We only use terranova for dialing to the PABX. We check the lines and it working fine, the vendor suggest to replace the processor but to costly. Do you have any idea what causes the problem or suggest action that can be done to resolve the issue. Their are times that the modem is answering, its like that the port is being locked-out

Lightbulb Re: Dial-UP for Definity

What type of Definity are you using? If it's a Prologix then I suggest you try resetting the modem. If it's a G3si is the modem line tied to the correct pair on the AUX cable? It should be on pair 25 (v/sl sl/v). This is the same for both the G3si and the G3r. Also check the cable in the back of the PBX sometime they get cocked and there is no connection.

The modem is co-located on the processor. If the connectivity is correct (loop-start POTS line to pair 25 of the Aux cable) and the modem is not answering then you have little choice save that of replacing the processor circuit pack. What release is your G3si? Where is it located?

Re: Dial-UP for Definity

I had the same problem twice with the INADS line here. The command
test processor long clear
will fix it; however you need craft privileges to run that command. If you don't have craft, call Avaya and have them send out a tech to run that command.
The long-term solution is to replace the the processor, however... otherwise you'll have to long/clear every 3 months or so.

Re: Dial-UP for Definity

Just to keep you up and running ... take any cheap standalone modem. Tie it to the rs-232 port on the back of an EPN. Then tie it to the phone line. It is pretty speed limited, but will let you keep working till you get a real fix.

Were using G3si V6.Tried test processor long clear but not successful. Cannot use the DCE port since we have a call accounting system.

Appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks.
