Modular Messaging Issue

I forgot if I posted this question, but I'll give it another try.

We have 3 offices with S8700s installed (1 per site) and a centralized Modular Messaging system in the main office.

There are a few stations that do not light up if they have a message waiting. In fact, when I do a status station XXXXX, it's blank next to "Message Waiting:"

I've removed the station and subscriber, had the user clear out all messages and left a new one, without any change. When the user calls the voicemail, it does tell them that they have new messages waiting. We tried LWC and the light does light up; it's just not lighting up when the user has a message waiting. We even rebooted the Modular Messaging in hopes that would resolve the issue.

Any suggestions?

Re: Modular Messaging Issue

It could be a number of problems. Under the subscriber's mailbox, do you have the pbx extension set to the users extension? If thats not set, then the modular messaging doesnt know which number to enable for the MWL.

What type of integration are you using? T1 QSIG?

Re: Modular Messaging Issue

We also had this problem after upgrading to S8700 and found that the "AUDIX Name:" box on page 2 of the station form needed to have "audix" in it.

This wasn't transferred in after Avaya did the save translations from the old switch!

I am able to add the audix name on page 2 to the 2500 (analog) phones, but after clearing the messages and leaving a new one, the same problem is existing. I can't figure out how to do it on the 2420s.

<<Update>>
I was able to change it on a 2420; it made no change - it still shows no message waiting and the lamp is not one.

Yes, QSIG is what we're using. And I have checked the mailboxes, all of them are correct.

Re: Modular Messaging Issue

Make sure the switch number is correct. This entry deals directly with your Message lights.

It is correct. From what I'm guessing, I'm now at Level 4...and still no answer.

Lightbulb Re: Modular Messaging Issue

Try this:

on the 2nd page of the extension, the LWC reception should be SPE
the MWI served user type should be qsig-mwi

That should get the lights working again.

All the phones are set that way. I've even deleted the stations and duplicated ones that I know work, and the message light still doesn't work. I'm at my wits end.

Re: Modular Messaging Issue

you need to change the registry key for mwi redundancy what this does is it tries to send and re-sedn mwi requests to the handset.

dotn remeber out of memory what teh registry location is as i touched modular messaging some time back...

Re: Modular Messaging Issue

In order to eliminate or isolate the ModMess, a handy tool is:

list trace tac <tac number>/q

where <tac number> is the tac of the qsig trunk on the host pbx

pretty sure that's the syntax, if not, its something close. in any case, it will show the qsig messages coming from the ModMess. should show extension number, activate, deactivate, and then some hex codes. monitor these messages on an extension you know works, then compare them to the extension that doesn't. might be an excercise in futility at this point, but it could help to narrow it down.
