Cannot dial out on PRI set for NI-2

Good Friday morning all.

First I have to say I really enjoy reading this message forum. Lotta good stuff from everyone.

We recently had Verizon set up full outbound CLID on our PRI's. We need to have the individual DID stations going out, no the Billing #. Hit a couple snags.

We have 3 circuits that go through a DMS Central Office and the other 3 go through a 5ES Central Office.

Before Verizon ran the order, the 3 circuits routing through the 5ES CO were programmed for '1A' in the DS1 Board Configuration. So I changed the protocol from 1A to 1B. Problem is I cannot make outbound calls with this configuration, I receive a message :

denial event 1200: ISDN incoming call barred D1=0x830007 D2=0x236

Two of the circuits hanging off the DMS CO are set for NI and again while incoming calls are fine, I cannot dial out. Get this message:

denial event 1186: ISDN invalid numbr format D1=0x830003 D2=0xf1c

Finally, the third circuit hanging off the DMS CO is set for Protocol '1C' in the DS1 Config, for Nortel.
Verizon has us do this when we had some problems recently and I never contacted their center to switch it back to NI-PRI. Well Guess what, this circuit is working great.... sending actual did numbers out to the rest of the world instead of the billing #. This circuit sits in the same switch as one of the other circuits set for NI, which does not let me dial out.

So, hopefully you followed me on this. I am wondering if I need to make changes to the route patterns to maybe add or remove digits.... I don't know. Could someone running NI with CLID ssucessfully please post or email one of their routing pattern configs?

Any other suggestions, please :O)

Thanks Again.

I know what the problem is, but it's difficult to explain ... so bear with me. The problem is in your route patterns. There are several things that you need to look, particularly in the bottom section of the route pattern. This section is specific to ISDN:

1) Check and see if the phone company is looking for 10 or 11 digits on long distance calls. Some are looking for 10 digits and require that you strip the "1" by deleting 1 digit. This would be accomplished by placing the digit 1 in the 7th column at the top "No. Del Digits."

2) Numbering Format: this is where it gets tricky with ISDN-PRI. On the lower half of your route pattern are 6 more rows. These rows correspond to the 6 rows above and are a one-for-one correlation ... i.e. row 1 below changes attributes to the call being processed in row 1 above. The Numbering Format piece is what you want to look at. In your local route pattern you might need the entry "locl-pub" for long distance "natl-pub" and for international "intl-pub" ... sometimes I've even seen "pub-unk" or "unk-unk" work. This setting causes some sort of protocol handshake thingy to occur between the Definity and the CO (very technical explanation, huh?). One thing to note, however, in every instance that I've had to use "intl-pub" for international calls I've had to strip the "011" by setting the "No. Del Digits" to 3. An explanation by a CO tech once was that leaving the 011 in the dial string is the equalivent of telling the CO switch twice that you're making an international call. It only want's to see it once and it wants to see it in the Numbering Format field.

Play with these settings and see if it doesn't make a difference.

regs,

P.S. ... Funny thing: My Wife's maiden name is Isbell. Her family is from the Hillsboro, TX area. We're not related are we? <grin>
