VoIP trunking question

Is it possible to have an H.323 VoIP trunk group serve multiple signalling groups? In other words, have the one VoIP trunk group work with multiple routes? I've noticed that I can add multiple signalling groups to my VoIP trunk group, but for some reason it won't route to the other VoIP destination. Can this be done?

Thanks for your help!

Nate

H.323 yuck! :)

sounds to me like you have issue with your routes. ie Network routes. try to ping the endpoint from the PBX.

G.729 is my flavor :)
But until then I would use SIP over H323.

Re: VoIP trunking question

Isn't H.323 just the trunk setup mode and G.729a the codec that rides on that trunk group? I could be wrong, but that is how I understood it.

Yes. G.729 is a codec. H.323 and SIP are actual protocols totally diff animals. SIP is the up and comer....H.323 is the tried and true choice.

In the coming years SIP will undoubtedly make large headway as it is a lot better in an Internet type environment.

By the way if you have no knowledge od SIP I would recommend this book....not really detailed but great overview for those who have not dealt with it at all.
