Re: Loud and group paging?
This sounds familiar. We are in a similar situation here at Cornell Univ. We have a nano-fabrication lab which has group-paging set up on a set of digital phones. What the lab folks want is to also activate an external paging system at the same time as doing the group-page. As we see it, this is the scenario:
Person calls a number (analog line) which is attached to the paging system. This activates the external paging system, which then closes a 600-ohm relay. We connect this relay back to the PBX (Definity G3r running ACM 1.3) somehow (analog line, CO trunk line, ??) which then rings the group-paging number for the lab phones. We have been able to make it work by tying the paging system's 600 ohm relay to another analog line, but the analog line seems to set up a periodic click that comes over the loud speakers. It almost seems as if we need to have some sort of relay that attaches the analog line when the relay closes and detaches it when the relay opens. There is definitely some feedback from the 600-ohm relay to the 8-ohm relay that's powering the external speakers. If anyone has any ideas about how to solve this problem, I would appreciate knowing about it. -- Paul Viscuso Cornell university |

1) a TN763 Aux Trunk circuit pack with 2 available ports. You may already have one for your music on hold and/or current overhead paging. For this exercise we're going to assume that the TN763 is located in slot 1C03 and ports 3 & 4 are available. 2) an available analog station port. For this exercise assume port 1C0201 Implementation: 1) Complete the Group Paging form. Let's assume that you used x1234 for the Group Page of the 6408 sets. 2) "add station 1245" as analog on port 1C0201. On page three, make abreviated-dial list 1 personal and make the hot-line destination list 1 dc 1. 3) "change abreviated-dial personal 1245" and make dialcode #1 1234 (the Group Page access code). 4) "change paging loud-speaker" . a) add TAC 801 on Aux Trunk port 1C0303 and cross-connect to over-head paging . b) add TAC 802 on Aux Trunk Port 1C0304 and cross-connect to analog port 1C0201 . c) add TAC 800 as ALL PAGE Now ... when you dial 800 (All Page) the overhead paging will be activated on Aux Trunk port 1C0303 and Aux Trunk port 1C0304 will link to analog station port 1C0201 and cause x1245 to go off-hook and activate the hot-line destination of 1234 (group Page). Therefore, any audio will go to both the overhead paging system and the internal Group Page. regs, .al.

Re: Loud and group paging?
Ask and you shall receive. As we looked more closely at the Valcom unit, we noticed that it has a Make/Break relay as well as the 8-ohm and 600-ohm speaker relays. So we were able to use the Make/Break relay with the analog phone to break the connection when the paging unit is not in use. The analog phone is a ringdown phone, which rings the group page extension. It's all working like a charm now.

I'd like to group-page off one loudspeaker zone. For example we have 3 loudspeaker zones. I'd like 3 group-paging zones to match each of the loudspeaker zones. You'd think that this would be in software somehow. I mean considering we are using Avaya's flagship multi-million dollar 9 node pbx with thousands of users etc.... |
