Anyone using this box? I'm looking to set up a remote console, wondering if using one of the com ports was an option. Typically, a unix box will have a terminal connector for this purpose but this box doesn't.

I would think so. I have instructions on how to do it with an Intuity via Serial Port. Would they be similar? Probably not, but here it is anyway:

To connect a laptop as the old system’s monitor:

1. Do one of the following from the Intuity Main Menu:
 For Release 3 or 4 systems, select these menu options:
Customer Services -> Unix Management -> Modem/Terminal Administration -> Install Modem/Terminal Software
 For Release 5 systems, select these menu options:
Unix Management -> Modem/Terminal Administration -> Install Modem/Terminal Software
The Install Modem/Terminal screen displays with the cursor in the Device field.
2. Press F2 (Choices).

3. Press the down arrow key until you select
Terminal and then press ENTER.

4. Tab to the
Serial Port Number field and press F2 (Choices).
* The Port Number screen displays.

5. Do one of the following:
 If /dev/tty00 is displayed, press ENTER.
 If there are additional choices, press the down arrow until /dev/tty00 is selected and press ENTER.
6. Tab to the Speed field and press F2 (Choices).
* The Speed screen displays with 9600 highlighted.

7. Press ENTER.

8. Press F3 (Save).
* The system will display a message saying that installation is complete.

regs,

Re: Ucs 1000

Thx, I have similar destructions for this box. I figured I could get a terminal connection that way, wasn't sure if I would have console permissions, ie - taking the box to single-user mode, etc. Guess I'll test - let you know...
