Question ISDN PRI connecting to POLYCOM VS FX

Can anyone provide some help with making vidcon calls via ISDN PRI's connected to a Definity.

We have a Polycom Viewstation FX which is primarily used for H.323 calls, recently we purchased the ISDN PRI adapter for the unit and have it configured and installed. THe PRI inbetween the PBX and the Vidcon equip is up and running. the numbers we are attempting to connect to are properly defined in ARS to rout via our one of our ISDN PRI trunk groups however connection to the far end System is unable to complete.

Anyone have any clue where to begin with this or know anyone in the nYC are familiar with this setup.

Re: ISDN PRI connecting to POLYCOM VS FX

H.323 is VoIP protocol and wouldnt use the PRI. Polycom units are usually connected using ISDN BRI not PRI. The Trunk will be a PRI.

As far as the network goes. I like ATT for BRI/PRI stability. Best thing is to get your LD carrier to monitor the D channel and tell you where the call is being rejected. Thats what i would do anyway.

Re: ISDN PRI connecting to POLYCOM VS FX

G3R Tech Yes- I know that H.323 is a VOIP protocol, as I stated in my thread that is our primary protocol for internal Vidcons, We are however attempting to use the FX's PRI (NOT BRI) adapter interface which was recently installed. The older BRI ST_LOOP connection method has too many interface conncetions and was not a proper fit for this application. But thanks for the suggestion of calling the carrier we will try that route again.

Did you every work this out? If so, can you post setups. Thanks very much.

Re: ISDN PRI connecting to POLYCOM VS FX

Since this thread began in 2004, I'm guessing he resolved it.
I have info on this but my documents contain some proprietary circuit info and such so I will need to edit it a bunch to post. One big issue for this was that in our area the local LEC "Qwest" could not carry these calls and we ended up going with Sprint.

I would appreciate it. You can redact any circuit info, as our problem appears to be in the PBX or Vidcon device itself. We have an Avaya CM3.1 and a Polycom VX7000. The video device is connected to the PBX over a lineside PRI, with a standard config (ESF, B8ZS with the ISDN switch defined as a 'No 5ESS'). The polycom is defined in the PBX software as a 'PRI-endpoint. Our test from both the Polycom and the PBX show the PRI link up. However, when we place an ISDN video call into the device , we are getting much the same result as Ten8ous1 reported below. When we run traces, we see the call failing to reach the destination extension and defaulting to another trunk. When we originate the call from the ISDN device to another H320 video device in our network, we get a 'fails to recognize ISDN network' error message We are stumped because we think we have done both configs right and our basic ISDN tests are passing.. Vendor support on both ends sucks. We've done this before on Avaya BRI-cards without a problem. If anyone has a working config between the Avaya and the Polycom, I certainly appreciate it if you would post both configs.
