Unhappy Logging on via Site Administrator

Hi guys,
I'm new to this group as well as to the Definity G3rV9. We are trying to connect to the pbx from our site administrator via the network. However, it returns the error "login resources unavailable". We can successfully logon via the serial port of the switch. I attempted to search the extensive quantum of pdf files provided by the supplier however it is become a challenge. Could anyone assist.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

do you have a c-lan card installed?
if you you should just assign an IP and port number. and it will then accept telnet connections.

You may also want to consider adding some extra SAT telnet port numbers to your "ip-services" in case serveral folks need to telnet in at the same time.

Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

Thanks guys,
We do have a c-lan card installed and configured for ip services wiht both an ip address and assigned port numbers. It succesffully worked in the past and we were able to connect directly to the box and confirm the configurations are still there.
With respect to the Ip-services component, I was the only person logged in at the time.

Delima now...

Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

So what you are saying is if I have a CLAN card I can access ASA over the web? I'm not sure if this is a correct statement, but this is what I'm looking at.
I would like to be able to go to any desktop with web access, within our network and access the switch to make changes right on the spot. Is this possible?

I know on an S8700 you can telnet to the box, then run dsat and just run win2k emulation over the session.

Not sure if r9 supports win2k emulation though.

If your system is a R9.5 or better and you have a C-LAN card properly installed and configured, you can telnet into the PBX via ASA/DSA/Terranova and/or ProCom Plus (via 4410 emulation). Once the PBX is on your LAN, you can access it from anywhere else on your LAN that your LAN would normally allow. This includes access from anywhere on the planet via VLAN if your network services group allows and/or supports VLAN connectivity.

Bottom Line: If you can reach the LAN you can telnet to the PBX if the above conditions are met.

regs,

Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

Using G3RV9.5....I have added the CLAN to the network and with ASA I am able to connect via the CLAN....
Now is there a way to connect to the switch using the telnet command from a windows DOS screen.
Should I be able to go the START... RUN... Type "telnet (IP Address)" and connect?

Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

NO, telnet by itself attaches to port 23. You need to telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx yyyy where y ist he port. The problem you will have then is with keyboard emulation unless you use ASA, DSA, Tnova, Procomm.

Cool Re: Logging on via Site Administrator

A Putty expert has setup a version of Putty to emulate a 513. If you want the program let me know, it is pretty slick.
