I'm pretty sure that MedPro does not support telnet. What are you attempting to do that leads you to believe that you need this access?

Actually, you can telnet into the Medpro to set the IP Address and speed and duplex settings. You can also set a new password, but it seems as though the newer MedPro's come with a preset password that I need.

I am experiencing a problem with a MedPro in one of my remote sites. The error code comes back as 3585 (which is not in any of my documentation). The MedPro still works....for now, but I am still worried that all of a sudden it will quit and I will be stuck. If you have any other ideas, I am all ears (or eyes in this case).
Thanks,
Travdawg

The MedPro's IP address is set in the switch via the "change node-names ip" command. The subnet mask and gateway are then set via the "change ip-interface" command. In R11, the speed and duplex settings are changed via the "change ethernet" command.

Below is an excerpt from a security whitepaper on the TN2302 which can be found at the link here: http://support.avaya.com/japple/css/...ss.UsageUpdate()
"The network services of TFTP and telnet are available on the board, but should be disabled. They are used for development purposes only. "

I can appreciate that you have an error that you cannot identify, but telnet access to the MedPro is not going to assist you in either identifying or resolving the issue. I would suggest that you call the Avaya maintenance center (800-242-2121) and ask them to identify the specific error and it's potential effects on your system.

Re: MedPro Telnet

The ONLY time you should ever need to go into the med pro board via telnet is if you are upgrading the board from a previous version of 22.

Theres not really much you can do inside the board itself. And if you wanted to change the Speed and Duplex of the board, you can do it inside definity via the change ethernet-options command.

Tell me where the change ethernet command is in a release 9. The only way to set the speed and duplex for a MedPro in a release 9 is to telnet into it and set it that way, which works until you reset the board and then you have to go back in and change it.

All I really wanted was the telnet password. In a release 9 you need to telnet into the board to change the speed and duplex settings.

the password was available with fw45, after that it's not an option. you'd have to consider downgrading (possible?) to telnet to the board.
