Save us all time

Somebody must of figured out how to do this without paying big bucks for programs and licenses.

Does anyone have any scripts for Procomm OR a way in ASA to log in, display the error reports and then export it to a file on your desktop?

I have to go in every day to lots of sites and check for errors, or check the system status and see what there using , so it would be great if I had a script or a way to do it automatically to do things like list system meaurements or display alarms.

There seems to be options , but I would be better if there were scripts already written.
ASA is meant to be better for getting reports and exporting them but Who knows how to do it automatically.
And things like Display alarms comes up with options of what alarms you want to view, so would ASA not be able to automatically do this command ?

does anyone use anything like this?
how many use ASA , and how many use Procomm?

Re: Save us all time

In fact my company has just bought the Integrated Management Suite, which includes the MFPM (MultiVantage Fault and Performance Manager). This tool allows (when properly configured ) to display a tree view of all performance and alarm data for many systems. It works together with another included app (the MPA or MV Proxy Agent) that logs via telnet into the voice system, collects data, and then "translates" it to SNMP, acting as a Proxy Agent. Unfortunately, I guess the suite is rather expensive.

So I've not answered you, and I'm even going to post another question ;) . Does anybody know whether it's true what says in the MPA docs? Namely, that supported Defty ECS systems are only from 9.2 to 10.x. I'm operating with R11, and I'm afraid that could be the cause of MPA not getting all data properly out from the systems. If I do an snmpwalk to the MPA host, I just get the enterprises.avaya.mibs.definity.g3proxmib subtree, which contains only generic proxy information. Any ideas?

Re: Save us all time

I use ASA to export and append to files the DS1 logs and summarys. Then I us Excel with to view.

Use the report feature in the broswer pain under the advance tab.

I added an attachment with sceen shots to explain it in more details. Please remember to clear measurements after you run the reports. I do this daily for several switches.

Thumbs up Re: Save us all time

I work for a Bank with a big call center. We always had problems keeping the call center and other documentation up to date for off-site storage, pre-upgrade checklists, etc. We found a neat tool that downloads all kinds of things from your AVAYA PBX and puts it in a Web format. We now put all these things on a shared drive. Its very easy to update it every week (on a schedule).
Normally, I'm not one to toot a vendor's horn, but, the application was created by people just like us who needed it.
Let me know if you have specific questions.

Re: Save us all time

I'm stating the obvious here, but ASA has a Monitor Alarms option that can be provisioned by severity, filtered by type and sent to an smtp address.

Re: Save us all time

Dear evil_scooby , the best that u can do to get the reports is to use the report option under Advanced tab on the left panel of ASA.
You can schedule it for once or recurring.
