We have a fax machine (whose extension goes through the PBX). When attempting to fax to a long distance number, users are mistakenly dialing 911 (9, for the outline, 1 for long distance and another 1 by mistake). There is no handset on the fax machine.

I'm wondering if we can restrict 911 calls from that extension only.

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Yes you could, you can put them in a partition group and restrict it or you can add them to a restricted calls list and not allow that number. Take caution though, restricting 911 for anyone is a no-no anymore.

If you just have 1 fax machine... I would assign an alert button on a supervisors desk who is next to the fax machine. You will catch em
