Newbie Questions

Hello all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm looking for some books or study guides for Avaya entry level certs. I'm currently an MCSE and looking to jump ship over to the telecom group in my company. But before I can do that I have to at least have something to show, I.E. certifications.

I guess what I’m asking is what is the process to get Avaya Certifications?

Little bit about myself.

I've been working as a sys admin for the past 4 years at a rather large company. We have call centers all over the world, both inbound and outbound. We have EIS, Aspect and are moving towards Avaya. Most of the deployments in the past year have been with Avaya IP phones, and a few Avaya analog systems. We also use Tantacomm and Witness systems to monitor audio on above phone systems.

I am/was MCSE 4.0 Certified, and have a few Win 2000 certs. How are the Avaya Certs compared to Microsoft certs? I've found that with MS, it's not knowing the right answer but rather knowing the MS answer. On some tests you could run in to a question you know is right, but MS does it differently then what is done out in the field.

Thanks for any help/information.

John

Question Re: Newbie Questions

the info2 i dont like. I sell avaya phone switches, and I can tell you with the Avaya certs its mostly about your knowledge of their products and features. I think for the most part they are very good. You mentioned implemeniting avaya where you work. Ip and what not. I myself would not mix and match. I think things work alot better with ip than say to have some ip system s and a few pbx. http://www.avaya-learning.com/portal...ation_home.asp. Try this link for avaya certs.

Re: Newbie Questions

Not sure what you are trying to achieve, when I did the ASC core exam it covered all protocols, standards, project management and so on. It was not Avaya only... screens, commands and equipment.

Have you had a go of a practice ACACN?

Cheers
