Re: Cisco IP system might replace my avaya

I just wanted to share something about windows based applications. I consultant for a company who just go infected with a virus. The virus took out many windows machines and caused the company to completely shut down their LAN. No access to email and no access to the internet for a few days (some machines more than others). This virus brought a multi million dollar company to a stand still. People were walking around with nothing to do. Microsoft and Macfee suggested that the IT staff rebuild every machine one by one to ensure that this virus was compltly gone. Then the machine could be put back on the LAN. What a mess. But not for me. I am so glad that my Definity does not run Windows. The only thing that I needed to do during this whole mess was to place a 8 port switch between the Definity and Audix becuase all LAN cables were unpluged. If I had a Cisco solution at this company my PBX would have been down just like everything else.

Probably something to think about if your boss wants to move to a windows based PBX. :D
