Cisco makes good phones, but the call manager application just blows. At least Avaya is going to open standards, unlike Cisco!
if you want a SOLID IP solution check out Zultys. They have an amazing product which is 100% open standards based. We are working with a company right now that has 14 remote locations, mostly T1 tied. With the Zultys solution we are able to cluster them into a single PBX. Its fantastic.. I could go on about how cool this product is.. but not today.
another solution is Asterisk.. Open-Source PBX. its CHEEP, but not an easy task to deploy but well worth it in the long run. Asterisk will turn the telecom work upside down in time! But i will tell you what you can deploy a 10 user office for under $2000.
