If you do a "change remote" and the system tells you that it's not available, someone has disabled this feature and you will need to get Avaya to turn it back on. It works great for troubleshooting when the administration of the site is done from another location. It allows you to enter an unassigned extension and then use it by calling it and you get dialtone so you can make test calls. If you're software version is new enough, you can do a "list trace station XXXX" to see what trunk the call is using.
