Any device with an audio outpout will suffice, options are a CD player, A CD rom drive in a PC (VM PC is a good candidate) or even an MP3 player.

as to which CD player to use you have 2 options, 1 go for an industrial CD Player (expensive but reliable) or go for a cheap unit & expect to replace it regularly. Alternatively a solid state MP£ playe should last almost forever.
