If they're accustomed to Octel and not Intuity, you might consider putting the VMPro in IP Office mode instead, then the feature you're trying to use will work (although some other cool stuff will not).

Alternately, advise them that they can just press # when prompted for their extension number if they are sitting at their own desk.
