Tunnel Vision
What do you say to the numbers crunchers that agree that when we move to a new building we need a new platform like an S8700, but want to continue to use 4-wire 7400 series phones and 8 port 4,wire circuit packs that are over 10 years old. They are afraid to consider going to VoiP on day one because of end training issues and lack of confidence in the VoIP backbone, so we will be wiring for 4 wire phones, more riser cables and 3 cat-6 cables to every workstation. We have no compelling reason for using VoIP, no application integrations in the near future of any kind. The computer room footprint will need to be 66% larger to stay with 4-wire phones rather than purchasing 24 port digital packs and getting rid of the reamining 7400 series phones. About 1/3 of my phones are 8400 series working on 4-wire 8 port packs.
