The TN767 is being replaced by the TN2313. (Funny, but new TN2313s are actually cheaper than TN767s). However, the TN767 still works in S8700 and S8500 implementations with the exceptions that are noted in my previous post (which are specific to the card itself and not the media server).

A01 is the "Expansion Interface" slot and is typically reserved for TN570 EI cards ... and similarly B01 is the same in a critical reliability system. However, any valid port card will work in those slots. The problem is, if you use it/them and need it/them later then it's a pain in the butt to move all of the translations ... but not impossible or even difficult under most circumstances.

Whoever fed you these inaccuracies should have qualified their statements. I'm sure that they thought that they were looking out for your best interests, but their statements are not exactly true. Either they though that you wouldn't understand the long term implications or they were simply lazy (as in the case of slot A01 and the work required for vacating it for future growth) and/or wanted to sell you the more expensive product (as in TN464GP vs. TN767E). In either case I would take future statements from this individual with a grain of salt and/or ask them to qualify their statements with Avaya documentation.
