Mat, it depends on the telecom environment where you are. If you can get rid of any N's in your telephone number fields for shortcodes that begin with [9] or [8] then you can make a big improvement - at least for numbers that have the most x. In north america, if you are in an area where you don't need to dial 10 digit locals you can use the following:
