The remote access card that you bought (12G3) is for a release 5 ACS. To upgrade to a release 6 you need a 12G4. I have had ACS's lock up on me like that several times, such as the one you stated. There is no return for your ACS in my experience. The reason it happened was not because of this, as you can downgrade from 6 to 5 if you wanted to. Did you los epower during the first startup with this card? If you do not complete the firmware upgrade, sometimes they tend to "Lock up." Are you aware that those silver cards can only be used once? The first time power is applied to the ACS with the card plugged in, the ACS goes through a series of red and green flashes. Depending upon your previous release, that determines the length of time the process takes to update the flash memory (less than a minute). Just before the update is complete, the PCMCIA card registers with the ACS and then the firmware is erased from the PCMCIA card. Once that process is complete, the card can only be used for that unit for remote access, but it can be used on any ACS unit for backup/restore.The firmware is lost and cannot be reused. So I am just curious, why did you buy this card from EBAY? Was it sold as new or used?
