Any unused link will do. You can determine the comm links in use via "display comm link." Here are the setps in setting up a VAL board:

1) change node-names ip
2) change ip-interfaces (leave enabled to "n")
3) add data-module n or xxxx, type ethernet, port 32? (last port), unused link
4) change ethernet (auto off, 100/Full)
5) change ip-interfaces (set enabled to "y")

Test by pinging the gateway: ping ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx board PPCSS (P=Port Network, C=Carrier, SS=Slot)

regs,
