Re: troubleshooting static on paging system

Two of the most common causes of static on paging systems is that the cabling is not shielded or laying across fluorescent light fixtures. If the cables are shielded, make sure that one end of the shield is grounded and that the shield is continuous. This will require getting on a ladder and inspecting the connections at each speaker to make sure that the shield is not cut off. While in the ceiling check to see if the wires are contacting the ceiling fluorescent lights. If so, lift them off or reroute.

If you have multiple wire runs, try removing one leg at a time to see if the static goes away. If it does, then you have narrowed your trouble shooting to one run.
