SMDR is accomplished via TCP/IP only. However, if your CDR program requires a serial connection this can be accomplished through a Terminal Server. Complete details on setup can be found on page 311 of the following document:

Note: The specific documnet above is for CMC1 (ProLogix) cabinets ... but the procedure is identical for ALL media gateways. This is simply the first doc that I found.
