I can't give you an S8400 or CM3.0 specific answer because I do not have either product, but on older systems that error was generated by several possibilities.
One is that you do have software corruption, if that is the case only Avaya can help.
Another possibility is that your backup medium is unformatted, damaged, or missing. The alarm is because the switch could not do a backup during its' nightly maintenance routines and is telling you that.
