Re: 4610 IP Sets

I've seen it more on 4620s than 4610s but one cause of the symptoms you describe is having a GSM device, like a cell phone or PDA too near the phone. The only time I have the problem on a 4610 is when my cell phone is in my pocket and the handset cord is across my chest. This problem doesn't occur in proximity to CDMA devices. I think it's related to the 1.9 gHz frequency that GSM phones in North America use - somewhere in the phones there is a wire about 6 inches long that's functioning as an antenna.

We are in a highrize in downtown San Francisco and the area is saturated with GSM signals. In some parts of our building we have 4620s that sit there all day chirping and gurgling away through the speakers with the sets on hook. Management has noticed and it does not reflect well on Avaya's product.

Avaya denies that this problem exists. If you talk to them about it, and I know several people who have, they will say they have never heard of it before.
