Voice over IP is great
All i can say is that i just started using Voice over IP with a company called vonage.com and it is a great service. Quality is actually better than the phone (louder dial tone and voice once connected). Service is 25.99 or 39.99 a month and you can have a number from just about anywhere. I am in CA and have a NY number so it is local for family and friends to call me. You can add virtual numbers also for $5 a month. This may sound like an ad, but i am very impressed with it. I do have cable modem which may be why it is so good, but i do recommed it for anyone.
