I think you can use a laptop. Theres no ASA, but there is Partner PC Administration which you can get at the Avaya's support site. Its GUI based, no worries of Command Line, and the login sturcture, is whatever you want for the username and password from the best of my knowledge. Partners and Definitiys are completely different animals and should not be compared to.
